Lasers love dark pigments and go after skin as well as the pigment of the tattoo with eagerness causing a burn or at the very worst a hypopigmented skin (a white tattoo. regretfully I feel obligated to apologize that this may not be the preferred way to go with them.

Color of the tattoo: black is great and so are many dark colors like dark blue,purple etc which react very well to the 1064yag quick switch. I use the cynosure affinity which also has the 532 for red pigments. The accolade has a filter for the 755 which is use for greens.

Location; certain areas like fingers, toes, ankles, forearms are not very well endowed with lymphatic flow and are a little more slow in responding to the laser and may require more treatments.. Some areas like the lower back are fairly tender when performing laser treatments. My Smartcool machine is a big help or any type of cooling measures are most helpful.

Sessions are separated by 6 weeks to allow for tissue healing and for the chomophores (broken down skin pigments) to be removed by the lymphatic system.. Another person to avoid are those that are immune compromised and diabetics never heal well or at least have the propensity to not heal well.

Caring for the treatment is paramount in future treatments because adequate information will avoid unnecessary infections or delay in healing.
